The Tip |
| Sound
files can really increase the size of your Authorware
piece. One way to get around this is to put
your sounds in a library.
Another
way is to keep the sound icon in one place and
use MediaPlay() to play that sound whenever
you need it. I like to store my sounds at the
bottom of the flow line and use them with MediaPlay()
throughout the piece.

|
Did you know? |
| You
can play a sound file through a Display icon.
Import a graphic file as linked into a Display.
Edit the file path in the External Media Browser
or in the Image Properties dialogue to the path
to a sound file.
When
you run your piece, the Display Icon will play
the sound, rather than showing the image.

Next Chat: Tuesday, December 3 |
| The
next scheduled chat will be Tuesday,
December 3 at 6:30 PM Central US Time.
The topic will be: Connecting Your Authorware
piece to a Database. Guests will be Chris
Swenson and Vahe Kassardjian. Use the time
zone converter to calculate the time where
you are.
I've
noticed an increasing number of questions about
connecting your Authorware project to a database,
either local to the user or over the internet.

Authorware-Amy site reorganized |
If
you've been by
the site lately, you've probably noticed
that things are a little different.
I've
added some new pages, including one
just for the archive of this newsletter.
If
you're planning to come to the database chat,
check out the new ASP Starter kit on the examples
page. |

Major Mojo |
MojoMole
has been doing some major reorganizations as
well. In addition to the great new look (nice
hat), the guys at Mojo have put up a load of
new downloads, including a super cool treeview,
and an advanced ASP example.
